Blake Museum Gets Stitched Up!

Postedon 5th July, 2013 in News

During July, The Blake Museum will be hosting an exhibition by The ‘SedgemoorStitchers Group’. They will be displaying samples of the many and varied types of textile work their members have skilfully created.

The aim of the exhibition is to compare and contrast modern work with the examples on display in the Museum’s 2013 Textile exhibition. In addition, the members will be giving demonstrations of their skills, and visitors (adults and children) will be able to try out some techniques.

Many members started stitching at a young age and continue to develop their skills which are often based on old techniques, the perfect example of History influencing the future!

The exhibition opens on Tuesday 2nd July and runs until Saturday 27th July with ‘Demonstration Days’ to take place on Saturday July 6th , Saturday 20th July and Thursday 25th July, between 10.00am – 4.00pm. A variety of demonstrations will run on each of the above days.

Also look out for information on Blake Time Team Thursdays, our new school holiday activity initiative, explore, research, create, have fun.

Dig up more information soon.

The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00pm until 4.00pm (last entry at 3.30pm) Entry is free but donations are welcome. Further details will be available from the museum’s website at www.bridgwaterblakemuseum.org.uk
