Bridgwater cup presentation

Bridgwater resident Mrs Janet Harvey has been awarded the Bridgwater Cup for 2008 in recognition of her work for organisations and the community of Bridgwater.

The Mayor Cllr Graham Granter will present the cup to Janet on Monday 16 February 2009 at 7.00pm in a simple ceremony at the Mayor’s Parlour.

Janet was nominated in recogniton of her support for local activities and organisations.  In particular Carnival, Carnival Concerts, Pantomime and Operatic Societies and ACTS.  In addition, she has been a lunchtime assistant for over 35 years at Eastover School, volunteering much of her own time to the School organising sports and fundraising events, along with school trips.  She is also a life long supporter of Bridgwater Town Football Club where she is the matron of the Tea Hut and for many years the supporters’ club treasurer.

Janet is a regular contributor to the letters page of the Bridgwater Mercury.  

The silver cup is awarded annually by Bridgwater Town Council for significant contribution to our Town and the lives of it’s citizens.   It was donated by

Mr Colin Wilkins in the 1970s and is usually on display at Blake Museum.   The winner receives a replica as a momento.
