Young Artists wanted in Avon and Somerset Constabulary

Posted on 11th May, 2012 in News

We want to showcase the exceptional artistic talents of young people in the Avon and Somerset Police area.

It’s an important way for us to engage with them too. We see art and music as a way of breaking down barriers and making young people feel confident and comfortable about turning to us when they need help.

The ultimate finalists will exhibit their work in a summer exhibition at the Royal West of England Academy alongside Andy Warhol’s recently discovered childhood piece – the Rudy Vallee portrait. It will be the first time that this artwork has ever been exhibited publicly.

You can find full details of the Clean Slate competition on our website http://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/cleanslate/

….but in brief:

·Open to 13-19 year olds

·2D, 3D and digitally generated art, split into two age brackets – 13-15 and 16-19

·Regional exhibitions in Taunton, Yeovil, Bath, Bristol and Thornbury with prizes for regional winners

·Final exhibition of 36 finalist pieces at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol
